The FactoryTalk® Portal allows manufacturers to consolidate their Web-based interfaces down to one manageable and configurable launch point. As part of the FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite, FactoryTalk Portal gives you a window into your manufacturing processes to:

• Improve productivity through personalized and collaborative access to information, applications, processes, and people

FactoryTalk Portal server software provides core portal services like role-based access to applications and content, search, personalization, security, and portlet development capabilities (the visible, active components in a portal page). FactoryTalk Portal can integrate with collaboration, security, and extended search systems from other vendors, while providing a reliable point of access to your manufacturing information, applications, and people.

One of the advantages of a portal is your ability, as a portal user, to choose not only which applications or portlets you wish the portal to display, but which information you wish to see in the portlet. FactoryTalk Portal server software goes beyond such basic functionality with personalization. A portal site using personalization can show different reports to managers than it shows to operators, for example. Personalization technology allows appropriate content selections to be made based on user metadata versus user metadata rules.
